Description

Hip High Pantyhose was a popular TV & radio Jingle in New Zealand around 1970, sung by the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band. The years 1970-1972 were rewarding times for the HCBB. The television series “The Country Touch” had given the band considerable popularity throughout New Zealand, and from the earlier years of merely imitating the music of overseas groups, the HCBB had developed into a unit with its own distinctive sound. As the voices matured, and instrumental skills improved, the songs were chosen from an increasingly wider repertoire, thus an audience was likely to enjoy music ranging from ‘pop’ songs, country music to bluegrass standards, original songs and instrumentals. The band has been playing since the 1960's & still goes on tour occasionally.
